5 Strategies to Increase Your Sales as an Amazon Seller in 2026

Roy Morgan reports that Amazon gained 500,000 Australian shoppers year on year in 2025, a 6% increase. As Amazon's Australian customer base grows, a listing that keeps selling out hands the new shoppers to a competitor.

Sellers who want to increase sales on Amazon in 2026 need more than a bigger advertising budget, particularly when a listing has plateaued. This guide gives five specific strategies for the year ahead.

5 Expert Tips to Increase Sales on Amazon in Australia: Summary

  1. Switch to Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) to keep inventory available so the listing can continue competing for relevant searches.
  2. Optimise listing titles, bullet points and backend search terms around relevant keywords.
  3. Run automatic campaigns first, then place proven search terms in manual exact-match campaigns.
  4. Upgrade main images and A+ Content to present product information clearly.
  5. Build genuine reviews and monitor competitive total pricing to improve sales performance.

1. Switch to Amazon FBA for Reliable Fulfilment

Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM) means the seller handles fulfilment from its own operation, while Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) means Amazon stores inventory and fulfils customer orders through its fulfilment network.

Stockouts can interrupt a listing's sales history and make the listing less likely to appear prominently when shoppers search for the product. Sellers using FBA send inventory into Australian and overseas fulfilment centres in bulk ahead of expected demand rather than packing each order individually.

For larger inbound loads, Amazon requires carriers to schedule delivery appointments in advance and provide shipment information such as Amazon reference and shipment IDs. The carrier must then arrive within the scheduled receiving window and follow Amazon's inbound requirements. Sellers should also ensure the freight is prepared correctly before the vehicle arrives. Sellers typically consolidate larger FBA shipments onto pallets.

Before switching to FBA, plan:

  • Forecast inbound stock against sales velocity so replenishment arrives before inventory runs out.
  • Confirm Amazon's current labelling, shipment and receiving requirements before dispatch.
  • Schedule inbound freight before peak periods such as Click Frenzy, allowing time for receiving and inventory availability.

2. Optimise Your Amazon Listing for Search

Amazon considers keyword placement across the product title, bullet points and backend search terms. Place the primary keyword near the beginning of the title. Keep the wording clear and natural for shoppers.

For a stainless steel water bottle, a structured title could lead with the product type and key feature, such as "Stainless Steel Insulated Water Bottle, 750ml, Leak-Proof Lid". Then add the product's size, material, or other defining features when those details matter to the buyer.

Do keyword research before writing the listing so the copy matches the terms shoppers use to search for the product.

3. Run a Two-Phase Amazon Advertising Strategy

Start with automatic Amazon advertising campaigns to identify search terms that generate clicks and sales.

Then place consistently performing terms in manual exact-match campaigns for tighter bid control. Add proven terms as negative keywords in the automatic campaign. This reduces overlap between the automatic and manual campaigns.

A top-of-search placement puts a relevant sponsored product above other search results, giving a proven keyword more opportunities to attract a click.

4. Upgrade Your Amazon Product Images and A+ Content

Amazon's main product image should use a pure white background, with the product filling at least 85% of the frame and no text, logos or other graphics over the image. A+ Content replaces a basic text-only description with enhanced images, text modules and comparison charts. Access to A+ Content requires Amazon Brand Registry enrolment.

Use A+ Content to explain important product features and comparisons. Address common buying questions with concise modules rather than adding more text to the standard description.

5. Build Reviews and Monitor Pricing to Win the Amazon Buy Box

Amazon now refers to the Buy Box, the offer a shopper adds to their cart from the product page, as the Featured Offer. Competitive total pricing is one factor Amazon evaluates, alongside delivery speed, seller performance and stock availability.

Customer reviews do not determine Featured Offer selection, but genuine feedback can still strengthen shopper confidence.

  • Reviews: Use Amazon's Request a Review feature rather than separate review requests. Sellers can use it once per order within the permitted 5–30-day window after delivery.
  • Pricing: Monitor total price, including shipping, against competing offers and adjust within a sustainable margin. Competitive total pricing is one factor Amazon evaluates, alongside delivery speed and seller performance. Stock availability counts too.

Ship to Amazon FBA Warehouses with Couriers & Freight Australia

FBA sales depend on inbound freight reaching Amazon within the required window, before the available stock is exhausted. The freight must arrive within the required window so Amazon can receive the inventory before demand peaks.

For example, a seller preparing for Black Friday or Cyber Monday could have its campaigns, images and pricing ready. But a missed freight booking could still happen after the event, resulting in lost sales.

Restock your inventory by booking inbound shipments to Amazon’s warehouses with Couriers & Freight.
